[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Im Jeong-yeop, a prospective candidate for mayor of Jeonju, promised on the 14th through a policy announcement to "build a large-scale 'XR (Extended Reality) Complex.'"
The prospective candidate Im stated, "We will enable children and adolescents in Jeonju to experience future core technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and robotics, which are relatively difficult to access compared to their peers in the metropolitan area."
Extended Reality (XR) is a term encompassing mixed reality (MR) technologies that include virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR).
The 'XR Complex' is planned to be built in a location with good accessibility from anywhere in Jeonju, with the site of the comprehensive stadium being the top candidate.
The complex will include VR·AR experience centers, AI experience zones, e-games, e-sports, e-economy, and e-career experience rooms to allow easy experience and learning of next-generation core technologies. Additionally, diverse spaces such as libraries, cinemas, performance halls, exhibition halls, informatization education centers, broadcasting production studios, conference rooms, and lounges will be provided to explore career paths and nurture dreams.
Prospective candidate Im said, "'XR Complex' will be a dream space for children and adolescents in Jeonju," adding, "We will spare no support so that our children can develop global competencies to lead future industries in spaces different from school."
