[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Kang Ki-jung, the Democratic Party of Korea's preliminary candidate for mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City, held a policy meeting with heads of local children's centers.
The Gwangju Metropolitan City Local Children's Center Association held a meeting on the morning of the 13th at the Kangchu Camp (the campaign office of candidate Kang's primary election headquarters) to discuss strengthening the functions of local children's centers responsible for child care and improving the treatment of workers.
The meeting discussed ▲ a unified wage system and improvement of working conditions for social welfare workers ▲ promotion of a pilot project for integrated child care ▲ activation of public-private welfare governance ▲ improvement of the local children's usage system and strengthening of operating expenses and program functions ▲ support for specialized programs such as sports and arts ▲ strengthening the job support system in social care areas such as meals and education.
Candidate Kang said, “Local children's centers have done their best to realize social value despite the COVID-19 crisis. The start of good jobs is good welfare. We will work together so that both the children who visit local children's centers and the social workers who work there can work proudly with pride.”
He added, “During my time as a member of the National Assembly, I was known as the ‘lawmaker who reads books to children’ at local children's centers in Buk-gu, showing my great interest in these centers. My strength lies in my ability to push forward based on listening and communication. Let us create a development direction for local children's centers through additional specific and in-depth discussions.”
