[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office of the Ministry of Environment and the Honam Headquarters of the Korea Rail Network Authority signed a business agreement on the 13th at the Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office to prepare for flood and wind disasters in the Honam region.
Following the business agreement signed in March with the Iksan Regional Land Management Office and the Jeonbuk Regional Environmental Office, the Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office plans to establish a more thorough cooperation system for flood and wind disaster preparedness by additionally signing a business agreement with the Honam Headquarters of the Korea Rail Network Authority this time.
To secure flood safety for railroads crossing national rivers in the Honam region, the Bosung-Imseong-ri railroad construction project under construction crosses the Tamjin River, and the Honam High-Speed Railroad project passes through Gomakwoncheon and Hampyeongcheon, making mutual support between the two organizations necessary for rapid flood response.
According to this business agreement, a system for exchanging information on flood status such as real-time monitoring of weather information (CCTV) and river water level changes will be established, and in the event of flood and wind disasters involving national river floods and national railroad damage, the two organizations will actively support each other with restoration personnel, technical equipment, and flood control materials to cooperate in preventing flood damage.
Director Kim Seung-hee said, “We will strengthen the cooperation system among related organizations for flood and wind disaster response in the Honam area and do our best to prevent disasters without gaps in the Yeongsangang River Basin.”
