[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do announced on the 13th that it will promote the "Non-public Electric Vehicle Slow Charger Supply Project" to expand the supply of eco-friendly electric vehicles and improve charging convenience for users.
The city aims to supply 55 units this year with a total support budget of 72 million KRW.
Only one charger can be applied for per person. Wall-mounted and stand-type chargers are supported up to 1.3 million KRW, and metered portable chargers up to 400,000 KRW.
Purchasers of ultra-small electric vehicles can only apply for metered portable chargers.
Eligibility includes citizens who have resided continuously for more than three months in Suncheon or companies/corporations with business locations there, who are electric vehicle purchasers (or 2022 electric vehicle subsidy recipients), and who secure a site for charger installation at their residence or workplace without prior government or Suncheon City support.
Applicants must sign a prior contract with the charger manufacturer or seller from whom they wish to purchase, and the participating companies will submit a collective application by May 13.
Selected applicants will be chosen through a public lottery on June 9.
Those selected and receiving subsidies must use the charger for a mandatory period of two years.
A Suncheon City official stated, "We expect that supporting non-public slow chargers for electric vehicles will help eliminate charging blind spots for electric vehicle users and contribute to expanding electric vehicle supply."
For more detailed information about the support project, please check the announcement on the Suncheon City website or contact the Suncheon City Ecology and Environment Division for guidance.
