[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] It has been revealed that Barogo's annual cumulative transaction amount last year nearly reached 5 trillion won. The cumulative delivery distance was 240 million kilometers. On the 13th, Barogo (CEO Lee Taekwon) announced this in the '2021 Barogo Delivery Trend Report,' which analyzed data from its program last year.
According to the report, as of December last year, the number of 'active riders' (those who made at least one delivery per month) through the Barogo program was about 32,000, delivering for a total of approximately 114,000 registered stores. The cumulative transaction amount, meaning the total value of goods delivered by Barogo, reached 4.6 trillion won, and the cumulative delivery distance reached 240 million kilometers.
The number of riders performing deliveries using the Barogo program also increased significantly in line with the high delivery demand. Last year, the total number of riders who made at least one delivery through Barogo was about 74,000, a 37% increase compared to the previous year. In particular, full-time Barogo riders were found to perform an average of 237 days per year, 4.5 days per week, 8.61 hours per day, and 3.9 deliveries per hour. Also, as of December last year, among riders who worked more than 20 days and made over 600 deliveries, 26.7% of those earning more than 3 million won per month earned over 5 million won.
A Barogo representative said, "As COVID-19 prolonged, the number of stores adopting delivery services increased, generating significant delivery demand, and in this process, riders have established themselves as a profession they want to challenge."
