[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] In Buk-gu, Busan, a drunk driver hit a passing teenage male student with his car, resulting in the student's death.
According to the Busan Police Agency, around 10 p.m. on the 12th, a man in his 30s, Mr. A, reported to the police that "a person was trapped under a vehicle" in an alley in Gupo-dong, Buk-gu, prompting officers to rush to the scene.
Mr. A, who was driving the vehicle, is known to have first collided with the parking barrier of a mart located in Gupo-dong and then struck Mr. B, who was standing by the roadside.
Firefighters and police officers who arrived at the scene rescued Mr. B from under the vehicle and transported him to the hospital, but he passed away at the hospital around 11 p.m.
The police arrested Mr. A on the spot around 10:20 p.m. as a suspect, and although they requested a breathalyzer test, he refused to comply due to being heavily intoxicated.
A police official stated, "Currently, Mr. A is detained in the holding cell, and after investigation, we plan to apply for an arrest warrant."
