[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Daejeon Government Complex Management Office under the Government Buildings Management Headquarters of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 13th that it will conduct a "Fraud Call (Voice Phishing) Response and Emergency Access Cooperation Drill" on the 14th to prevent the continuously increasing damage caused by fraud calls (voice phishing).
About 20 personnel will participate in this drill, including government complex security guards, security police officers, and guides, as well as related organizations responsible for public safety in the Daejeon area, such as the Daejeon Police Agency and Dunsan Police Station.
The Daejeon Government Complex Management Office explained that recently, several suspected cases of fraud calls (voice phishing) were reported at the NongHyup branch within the complex, prompting them to devise measures to prevent fraud call (voice phishing) damage. They planned this drill to strengthen on-site response capabilities against fraud calls (voice phishing).
This joint drill will be held at the NongHyup Government Daejeon Complex Branch, simulating a situation where a suspected fraud call (voice phishing) victim requests to withdraw 50 million won in cash at the counter.
First, when the suspected fraud call (voice phishing) victim requests the withdrawal, the NongHyup employee will report to 112 and relay the situation to the integrated control room according to internal response guidelines (manual). The integrated control room of the Government Daejeon Complex will cooperate with access to facilitate the prompt response of the dedicated fraud call (voice phishing) response team, the Intelligent Crime Investigation Team of Dunsan Police Station.
At the Government Daejeon Complex Integrated Control Room, judging that emergency access is necessary according to internal response guidelines (manual), the situation is communicated to all staff (security guards), and the Intelligent Crime Investigation Team of Dunsan Police Station is allowed access inside the complex under the escort of the deputy head of the integrated control room without a separate access card issuance procedure. Subsequently, the Intelligent Crime Investigation Team interviews the victim to explain the fraud call (voice phishing) methods and verifies the fraud call (voice phishing) report. Then, with support from the Daejeon Police Agency and the Complex Police Substation, the team proceeds to apprehend the collector in the southern natural yard of the Government Daejeon Complex.
Jung Yoon-han, head of the Daejeon Government Complex Management Office, said, "In order to prevent crimes such as fraud calls (voice phishing), which are becoming increasingly sophisticated amid the difficulties caused by COVID-19, it is important to establish a cooperative system with related organizations," and added, "I hope this drill will serve as an opportunity to resolve various emergency situations, including voice phishing, together with related organizations."
