[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jin-young] SK Stoa has created an environment capable of producing all commerce broadcasts, from TV shopping to the recently trending 'mobile live commerce' (mobile live streaming).

On the 13th, SK Stoa announced that it has newly established the industry's first dedicated mobile live commerce broadcast studio (hereinafter MLC Open Studio).

Located on the 5th floor of SK Stoa's headquarters in Sangam-dong, Seoul, this studio is exclusively for mobile live commerce broadcasts. Although mobile live commerce broadcasts were previously conducted in the existing C Studio, the number of broadcast platforms has expanded to include 11st (LIVE11) and Kakao Shopping Live, prompting an increase in studio space.

Through this, SK Stoa can operate separate studios for general TV shopping production and mobile live commerce broadcasts. They plan to strengthen not only TV shopping but also mobile live commerce functions by utilizing this setup.

The MLC Open Studio offers the advantage of securing dedicated filming equipment and pre-rehearsal time to produce high-quality broadcasts. It is fully equipped with facilities suitable for mobile live commerce broadcasts.

The basic interior is designed in a simple style to allow easy changes according to the product. Additionally, an electric chroma key screen is installed to create different backgrounds for each broadcast. The studio is also equipped with lighting facilities and control systems tailored for the MLC Open Studio, enabling lighting effects that match the products being sold.

Through this, they plan to produce customized broadcasts suitable for mobile live commerce to attract more viewers and encourage purchases.

Last June, SK Stoa introduced a digital studio through B Studio. The 'Media Wall' installed in B Studio was also installed in A and C Studios, establishing the largest digital studio in Korea. In particular, A Studio features the largest media wall in the country (approximately 35m wide and 3.6m high), maximizing the utilization of the studio environment. Furthermore, B Studio is configured with a media wall extending to the floor, completing the industry's first extended reality (XR) studio.

Previously, a lot of cost, manpower, and time were required to build sets and produce props, but now product information can be introduced more easily and in various ways for each program. Especially, backgrounds, products, and text areas can be expressed crossing between 2D and 3D, making it easier for viewers to understand the products through the broadcast.

Through the establishment of the digital studio, SK Stoa expects to reduce set production costs by about 30% annually and plans to practice eco-friendly management through energy savings and waste reduction.

Yoon Seok-am, CEO of SK Stoa, said, “As the importance of mobile live commerce grows alongside TV shopping, we have established a professional studio equipped with dedicated equipment. With all studios equipped to the highest standards in the TV shopping industry, we will continue to produce higher quality broadcasts and showcase a variety of products.”
