[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Lotte Hotel's Service Academy announced on the 13th that it won the "Grand Prize" at the "2022 Korea HRD Award" ceremony held on the 12th.

The Korea HRD Award is the only award in the human resource development field in Korea, given to institutions and education-related personnel who have contributed to this area. It is the most prestigious award in the field in Korea, hosted by the Korea HRD Association and Monthly HRD, and was established in 1995.

Founded in 2015, the Service Academy is an educational institution under Lotte Hotel aimed at fostering growth for individuals and organizations through training service professionals. It consolidates the service capabilities of Lotte Hotel, which has led the hotel industry for over 40 years, and is equipped with optimized infrastructure for talent development, including systematic curricula, expert instructors, and training facilities.

Lotte Hotel analyzed that its efforts to develop diverse educational content, contributing to the advancement of the domestic service industry, were the key to winning the grand prize for two consecutive years. First, the Service Academy has lecture rooms that replicate hotel facilities such as guest rooms and food and beverage practice areas, and trains over 80 professional in-house instructors. It operates more than 200 training courses ranging from hotel job training taught by service professionals, global talent education programs, to in-house reporter training courses, and leads employee competency development through the establishment of a non-face-to-face education system. Additionally, it actively invests in service human resource development as a global hotel company by providing the same educational opportunities to employees of overseas chain hotels.

Expansion of external education is also notable. In November last year, through an agreement with the Ministry of Employment and Labor, it conducted the National Employment Support System's Work Experience Program, which provides vulnerable groups with opportunities to develop skills and careers through pre-employment job experience. Beyond this, it has expanded education to other companies as well, fulfilling its role as a specialized educational institution for the development of the domestic service industry, to the extent that it is called a service academy.

Sejin Ahn, CEO of Lotte Hotel, said, "The continuous research on ways to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of education seems to have led to winning the award for two consecutive years," and added, "We will continue our role as a 'Care Company' so that Lotte Hotel members and service industry workers can demonstrate their capabilities."
