[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] The Federation of Korean Trade Unions (FKTU) announced on the 12th that it will prepare measures to prevent recurrence along with an apology regarding the chairman of the National Construction Industry Union under FKTU being investigated by the police on charges of embezzling union dues.
On the same day, FKTU stated in a press release, "Although the investigation results need to come out, the contents reported in the media appear to have considerable credibility," and added, "It is an organizational disgrace that such an unfortunate incident occurred within an affiliated organization."
They continued, "We apologize to the on-site union members and the public, and will promptly prepare measures to prevent recurrence."
Earlier, the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crime Investigation Unit of the Chungnam Provincial Police Agency announced that they have booked and are investigating Mr. A, the chairman of the Construction Industry Union, on charges of embezzlement in the course of duty.
