[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do announced on the 12th that it will implement a neutering surgery project for registered animals (dogs) raised outdoors in rural areas (eup-myeon areas and some dong areas).
The target animals are registered animals (dogs) aged 5 months or older in rural areas, and they must have an owner.
The application period is from the 13th to the 29th, and owners can apply by visiting the eup-myeon office or dong community center of their address in person.
The city explained that it secured a budget of about 68 million won for neutering surgeries of outdoor dogs this year and selected five animal hospitals as project implementers.
A city official said, "We expect this project to suppress the occurrence of abandoned animals and prevent outdoor dogs from becoming feral," and added, "We ask for the citizens' great interest and cooperation."
Meanwhile, Yeosu City has been making efforts to expand animal protection and welfare, such as supporting adoption fees and neutering surgery costs to increase the adoption of ownerless animals.
