[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] The National Library of Korea will hold the 2022 Rare Books Donation Exhibition, "Donation, Starting from a Small Step," in the Rare Books Room (5th floor of the main building) from the 12th until March 31, 2023.

Twenty-two donors who donated rare books to the National Library of Korea in 2021 have been selected to showcase representative materials from among 284 titles and 533 volumes donated by each donor, sharing the background of their collections and the stories behind their donations.

This exhibition features diverse donation stories, including Jo Byeongguk, who donated a family heirloom from a bundle his father cherished while fleeing during the Korean War, and Lee Yongbok, whose father donated rare books to the National Library of Korea in 1974 and continued the tradition of donation across generations.

Additionally, the exhibition offers various attractions and interactive experiences such as videos introducing donors and donated materials, responsive (interactive) devices, and a photo zone.

Viewing the exhibition is available only to visitors with prior reservations at the library, and videos will also be provided on the National Library of Korea's YouTube channel. The donated materials’ bibliographic information is accessible through the National Library of Korea’s website.

The person in charge of rare book donations at the National Library of Korea stated, “We hope this exhibition will further illuminate the beautiful decision of donating rare books and serve as an opportunity to raise interest in donations.”
