Gwangju Seobu Fire Station Implements Safety Measures for Spring Mountain Accidents

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Gwangju Western Fire Station announced on the 12th that it will implement mountain accident safety measures around Geumdangsan in the jurisdiction for two months from April to May to ensure safe hiking and leisure activities for citizens as the number of hikers increases in spring.

Although the number of hikers decreased due to the impact of COVID-19, the number of rescue cases is on the rise (an increase of 8.2%), concentrated in the spring and autumn seasons when there are many hikers.

The main points of this mountain accident safety plan include ▲ deployment of hiking safety guardians on hiking trails of Geumdangsan in the jurisdiction ▲ strengthening emergency rescue capabilities for mountain accidents ▲ preparation of mountain safety maps for major hiking trails ▲ promotion and campaigns for mountain accident prevention ▲ operation of CPR experience classes.

Moon Hee-jun, head of the Western Fire Station, said, “We will strive to strengthen the mountain accident response system and rescue capabilities so that citizens can hike safely to reduce mountain accidents,” and added, “We hope for enjoyable and safe hiking by adhering to safety rules.”
