[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] Samsung Electronics won a total of 71 awards, including three gold awards, at Germany's international design competition 'iF Design Award 2022.'

On the 12th, Samsung Electronics announced that its portable screen 'The Freestyle,' foldable phone 'Galaxy Z Flip3,' and wireless vacuum cleaner 'Bespoke Slim' received gold awards at the 'iF Design Award 2022.' Among more than 11,000 entries from 57 countries this year, Samsung Electronics was selected for 71 awards, the highest number of awards.

Started in 1953 under the auspices of the International Forum in Germany, the 'iF Design Award' comprehensively evaluates design distinctiveness and impact across nine categories: ▲Product ▲Packaging ▲Communication ▲Concept ▲Interior ▲Architecture ▲Service Design ▲User Experience (UX) ▲User Interface (UI).

The gold-awarded 'The Freestyle' is a portable screen that can rotate 180 degrees, enabling a screen size of up to 100 inches (254 cm diagonal) depending on the desired environment such as walls, ceilings, or floors. It features a lightweight and minimal design that fits in one hand, allowing easy use not only indoors but also outdoors, such as at campsites.

The 'Galaxy Z Flip3' won a gold award for its design that offers an expanded user experience through a larger cover display on a new foldable form factor. By integrating the cover display and camera into one refined design, it maximizes user convenience by allowing important notifications to be checked even when the phone is folded.

The wireless vacuum cleaner 'Bespoke Slim,' designed with a simple style to harmonize with living spaces, also received a gold award. It applies the bespoke concept tailored to users' lifestyles and preferences, enhancing usability throughout the cleaning process from product storage to dust disposal, providing a differentiated cleaning experience.

Samsung Electronics was recognized for its design across all fields including products and UX at the 'iF Design Award 2022,' continuing its record-breaking achievement with 71 awards following last year. In addition to the gold winners, products such as ▲'Neo QLED 8K' ▲'Bespoke Cooker' ▲'Galaxy Buds 2' also received awards.

In categories beyond products, designs such as ▲'Samsung One UI 4,' a customizable phone interface tailored to individuals, and ▲'Galaxy Upcycling at Home,' which repurposes unused Galaxy phones as home IoT devices to build smart homes, were selected as excellent designs.

Kim Jin-soo, Vice President of Samsung Electronics Design Management Center, said, "Design that combines changing values and innovative technology is important," adding, "We will strive to provide meaningful experiences that satisfy diverse customer needs and improve the quality of our lives."
