[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority announced on the 12th that it will invest 3.6 billion KRW by October to expand CCTV coverage in Songdo and Cheongna International Cities.
The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority plans to install new multipurpose CCTVs at 10 locations in Songdo with 45 units and 4 locations in Cheongna with 16 units, selecting urgent sites based on civil complaints and requests from police stations and district offices.
In addition, low-resolution CCTVs will be replaced with high-resolution equipment, and new CCTVs will be installed in blind spots. In Cheongna, 215 old rotating cameras will be replaced, and 147 fixed cameras will be additionally installed to reduce blind spots in child protection zones.
The newly installed cameras are high-definition products with 8-megapixel resolution, expected to resolve the issue of difficulty in identification during incidents with older cameras.
The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority plans to complete the design this month and begin full-scale construction next month.
Currently, the authority operates 1,159 CCTVs in Songdo and 382 in Cheongna, and will also take over and integrate management of CCTVs in Yeongjong Sky City, developed by the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH).
