[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Asiana Airlines' global social contribution project, 'Vietnam-Beautiful Classroom,' has successfully concluded after a seven-year journey.

According to Asiana Airlines on the 12th, 'Vietnam-Beautiful Classroom' was an employment support education program targeting low-income women in Hai Duong Province, Vietnam. It is Asiana Airlines' representative global social contribution activity aimed at promoting local women's social participation and nurturing female talent. Since 2015, Asiana Airlines signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for a public-private partnership project with KOICA and jointly funded the program. Good People was selected as the operating organization to carry out the project.

Asiana Airlines provided local women with various basic education necessary for employment, including foreign languages, computer skills, accounting, and service training. Current Asiana Airlines cabin crew and airport service staff directly participated as instructors to conduct service education. Trainees in the program showed an average improvement of 23% in computer skills, foreign language proficiency, and face-to-face service abilities. The satisfaction rate of trainees regarding the education exceeded 90%.

Through the education program, 'Vietnam-Beautiful Classroom' produced 461 graduates over the past seven years. About 150 of them, accounting for 30%, secured jobs in related office positions at Korean companies, large supermarkets, health centers, and elementary schools. As a result, the income rate of graduates increased by more than 40%, contributing to the rise in wages and employment rates of local female workers and the development of the local community.

Ms. Bui Thi Ly, who succeeded in finding employment, said, "Due to difficult circumstances, I had no choice but to give up studying, but through the Beautiful Classroom, I was able to succeed in getting a job." She expressed her gratitude, saying, "'Vietnam-Beautiful Classroom' gave me confidence in life along with employment and is a miraculous gift that changed my life."

Cho Young-seok, Executive Director of Asiana Airlines, said, "I am deeply honored that 'Vietnam-Beautiful Classroom,' which started to nurture female talent and support social participation, has completed its seven-year journey and achieved its intended goals." He added, "Although there were difficulties in operating the project due to the spread of COVID-19, we were able to continue sponsorship until the end through active discussions and responses with partner organizations," expressing his gratitude.

On the same day, Asiana Airlines also held a performance sharing meeting to commemorate the meaningful conclusion of 'Vietnam-Beautiful Classroom' at the Asiana Airlines Training Center in Gangseo-gu, Seoul.

Meanwhile, Asiana Airlines has also conducted educational support and emotional exchange activities for local children and youth in Vietnam, as well as in China, Cambodia, India, the Philippines, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, and other regions. Going forward, the company plans to carry out more advanced and valuable social contribution activities in line with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management.
