[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Representatives of youth organizations and institutions in the Gwangju area held a meeting with Lee Yong-seop, the Democratic Party candidate for mayor of Gwangju, and proposed key policies to create a safety net for the growth of future generations.
The Gwangju Youth Policy Coalition announced on the 12th that it held a youth policy meeting with Lee Yong-seop, the Democratic Party candidate for mayor of Gwangju, on the 11th at Lee’s campaign office under the theme "Youth Visible 6.1 Local Election."
The event proceeded with a greeting from Moon Ki-jeon, the standing representative, a speech by candidate Lee Yong-seop, an explanation of the Gwangju Youth Policy Coalition and policy tasks by Executive Director Lee Woon-gi, followed by policy discussions.
These organizations proposed a total of 11 policies: ▲ payment of youth allowances ▲ implementation of psychological trauma support system for youth ▲ expansion of autonomous spaces for youth in living areas ▲ increased budget support for alternative schools and guarantee of learning rights for out-of-school youth ▲ strengthening education on teenage civic suffrage and conducting mock voting ▲ improvement of treatment for youth leaders ▲ securing stable residential environments for youth shelters ▲ expansion of youth ID issuance and activation of discount systems ▲ establishment of new youth-related positions and youth special advisor system to enhance administrative expertise ▲ support for educational activity expenses (vouchers) for out-of-school youth ▲ installation of education cooperation support centers.
