Train and van collision accident in Hungary... 5 dead

On the 5th (local time), AFP reported that 5 people died in a collision between a train and a van in southern Hungary.


According to the police, the accident occurred around 7 a.m. in the Mindszent area, located 140 km southeast of the capital Budapest. Five people in the van died at the scene, and more than 10 people, including train passengers, were injured. The train derailed as a result of the collision.


Hungarian state railway MAV stated that the van entered the railway crossing despite a stop sign. In a statement, MAV said, "There were 22 passengers on the train," adding, "2 were seriously injured, 8 sustained minor injuries, and several passengers in the van died."
