[Haenam＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Kim Seong-ju, the head of the Haenam County Fisheries Cooperative, was awarded the Silver Carbon Industry Medal.

According to the Fisheries Cooperative on the 5th, Kim received the award at the ‘11th Fisheries Day’ ceremony held in Boryeong, Chungnam, for his contributions to business normalization.

Kim completely resolved the Fisheries Cooperative, which was on the verge of bankruptcy with a cumulative deficit of 21 billion won, and achieved business normalization in nine years.

In particular, the Fisheries Cooperative contributed to revitalizing the fisheries economy through the establishment of the Fisheries Food Industry Hub Complex (15 billion won), frozen seafood storage facilities (4 billion won), and aquaculture equipment rental business.

Additionally, his contributions to the exclusive abalone military supply project and the opening of two metropolitan area branches were also recognized.

Kim said, “All executives, employees, and fishermen worked together to achieve business normalization of the Fisheries Cooperative, and we will continue to devote all our efforts to increasing fishermen’s income.”
