[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] On the 5th, Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that three villages were selected for the 'Island Village Unit LPG Facility Construction Project' implemented by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The 'Island Village Unit LPG Facility Construction Project' installs LPG tanks, piping networks, gas boilers, and safety devices in island villages to resolve fuel supply issues caused by geographical isolation, reduce the economic burden of using expensive fuels, and prevent safety accidents.
The selected island villages this time are Yeoseo Village in Cheongsan-myeon, Hoenggan Village in Soan-myeon, and Deokwoo Village in Saengil-myeon, benefiting a total of 195 households.
The project will be carried out in stages over the next five years until 2026, with a total budget of 2.6 billion KRW (1.4 billion KRW from the national government).
A county official said, "With this project selection, it is expected that the living conditions of island villages, where the majority of residents are elderly, demand is low, and supply of boiler kerosene and LPG containers is not smooth, making them vulnerable to safety accidents, will be greatly improved."
Meanwhile, to resolve energy imbalances characterized by relatively high fuel costs and vulnerability to safety accidents compared to urban areas, the county has built LPG piping network facilities in 19 villages and 4,000 households in Wando-eup, and on four islands with 240 households from 2016 to this year.
