The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency announced on the 5th that they are recruiting resident companies for the Global Game Hub Center and preliminary startup teams for Game Venture 4.0. The Global Game Hub Center is a game development space established at the LH Corporate Growth Center in Pangyo Techno Valley Phase 2, Gyeonggi Province. The Korea Creative Content Agency supports small and medium-sized game companies with overseas expansion potential, developers with less than one year since startup, and prospective entrepreneurs by providing residency space and capacity-building programs.
This year, approximately twenty-nine domestic small and medium-sized game companies will be recruited. Applicants can apply for various sizes of independent office spaces designated according to the minimum number of resident staff, such as medium-sized (23?30 pyeong) and small-sized (7?19 pyeong). A Korea Creative Content Agency official explained, "The full rent support benefit for resident companies to overcome COVID-19 has been extended until the end of February next year, and management fees will also be supported at 50%."
Resident companies can also receive various support for game development. This includes the latest equipment and facilities for mobile and VR game testbeds, advanced mobile QA and consulting, game development software, game consulting (game production, publishing and service, securing funds, promotion and marketing, overseas expansion), and management support consulting (tax/accounting, legal, HR/labor). Preliminary startup teams selected for Game Venture 4.0 can expect similar benefits.
Cho Hyun-rae, president of the Korea Creative Content Agency, said, "If resident companies achieve sufficient results, their residency period will be extended by one more year," adding, "We will induce the growth of capabilities of small and medium-sized game developers by providing customized support programs such as the latest testbed equipment and facilities."
