원본보기 아이콘[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Baegamsa Office of Naejangsan National Park under the Korea National Park Service (Director Yoo Kyungho) announced on the 5th that it held a tree-planting event to achieve carbon neutrality.
The event was attended by Baekyangsa Temple of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, volunteer activists, and local residents.
Five hundred trees, including maple and kkulgeorinamu (Celtis sinensis), were planted in damaged areas within the Baekyang district, and a wildfire prevention campaign was simultaneously conducted to raise awareness of natural resource conservation in the national park and to prevent spring wildfires.
Kim Byungsoo, Head of Resource Conservation at the Baegamsa Office of Naejangsan National Park, said, “Through tree planting, we aim to expand carbon sinks and continuously create habitats that can enhance biodiversity,” adding, “We will continue to strive to make a healthy national park.”
