[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Gochang Ssanghwa Tea, known for boosting immunity, has embarked on its export journey to the United States.
The county announced on the 5th that The Oreun Cooperative (CEO Hwang Ui-min), which produces Ssanghwa Tea, successfully completed its first export to the U.S. on the 1st.
The shipment to Los Angeles, USA, includes two types: Original Ssanghwa and Yakdoraji Ssanghwa Tea, with an export value of 20 million KRW.
Gochang Ssanghwa Tea is made by carefully selecting eight types of medicinal herbs such as ginger, jujube, and astragalus produced in Jeonbuk Province. It adjusts the typical bitterness of Ssanghwa Tea to a clean yet rich flavor, making it easily accessible to younger consumers.
Additionally, it is produced in pouch form for convenient carrying and drinking.
Hwang Ui-min, CEO of The Oreun Cooperative, said, “Using the U.S. market entry as a foothold, we will strive to expand exports of Gochang Ssanghwa Tea to Mongolia, Japan, and other countries. We will continue to launch new trend-aligned products such as iced Ssanghwa Tea and squeezable doraji extract.”
A county official stated, “At a time when K-food is gaining global attention, we are pleased that the healthy beverage Gochang Ssanghwa Tea has entered the U.S. market. We will provide various administrative supports such as participation in expos and buyer matching to further activate exports of Gochang agricultural specialties.”
