[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Air Premia, a domestic medium- to long-haul specialized hybrid airline (HSC), announced on the 5th that it achieved approximately 1,000 tons of cargo transport performance through cargo flights on a total of four international routes in March.

In March, Air Premia operated a total of 26 round-trip flights. There were 9 flights to Singapore, 9 to Ho Chi Minh, 7 to Bangkok, and 1 to Kyrgyzstan. Approximately 19 tons of cargo were transported per one-way flight. The main cargo items by route were semiconductor parts and medical diagnostic kits for Singapore; fresh products such as mangoes for Bangkok; fabrics and clothing products for Ho Chi Minh; and natural honey and cosmetics for Kyrgyzstan.

Air Premia expanded its routes starting with Singapore at the end of December last year, followed by Ho Chi Minh in January, and Bangkok and Kyrgyzstan routes in March. In March, it operated a total of four routes. Cargo performance also showed strong growth, with 300 tons in January, 270 tons in February, and over 1,000 tons in March.

In line with the easing of social distancing and exemption from quarantine upon entry, preparations for passenger routes are also underway. As a medium- to long-haul specialized airline, Air Premia is prioritizing Los Angeles (LA) in the Americas as its first passenger route. The establishment of a branch office and licensing procedures are currently in the final stages.

Air Premia aims for a business model specialized in medium- to long-haul flights. The airline has introduced Boeing 787-9 mid-to-large aircraft. It operates two classes of seats: Premium Economy and Economy. The Premium Economy class offers the widest seat pitch of 42 inches among airlines. In addition, it provides business-class-level services such as a dedicated counter, priority boarding, priority baggage claim, premium in-flight meals, and generous checked baggage allowance.

An Air Premia official said, “All seats are equipped with the latest touchscreens, and in-flight Wi-Fi is available, which is expected to be popular among the MZ generation who want uninterrupted connectivity. During last year’s domestic Jeju flights, over 90% of passengers expressed willingness to reboard, proving high consumer satisfaction with Air Premia’s seats and services. We will continue to provide the best service in international flights as well.”
