[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Hanwha Hotels & Resorts announced that starting from the 5th, it will carry out the 'With' project, which promotes coexistence with local small business owners by utilizing its network of hotels and resorts operated nationwide. On the same day, the 'LOCAL LIVE' platform, designed to help local small business owners secure competitiveness and grow independently, will also be launched for the first time.
LOCAL LIVE goes beyond simple product introductions by discovering promising local products and maximizing their value through rebranding and retouching processes. In this process, Hanwha Hotels & Resorts collaborates with local governments and other entities to implement support policies and programs for small and medium-sized business owners, expanding sales channels to enhance the competitiveness of local producers. Currently, business models for local residents are being established and expanded nationwide in cooperation with Seogwipo City, Gyeongnam Provincial Office, Gangwon Regional Self-Support Center, and others. LOCAL LIVE aims to provide continuous competitiveness to local communities, creating an environment for balanced and mutual growth.
In cooperation with the Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency, a campaign to onboard social enterprises onto LOCAL LIVE is also underway. The Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency, under the Ministry of Employment and Labor, fosters social enterprises to create jobs and expand social services. Through collaboration, promising social economy enterprises will be selected for rebranding and product onboarding as part of the ongoing 'With' project. Hanwha Hotels & Resorts will also promote farmers' markets and specialty product events centered around its nationwide hotels and resorts.
The 'Chef’s Footwork' program, where Plaza Hotel chefs provide direct consulting to local small business owners, is also in progress. Nine businesses, including 'Chuncheon Cham Dakgalbi,' 'Jeju Charcuterie,' and 'Hongcheon Steamed Buns,' have already been selected to receive consulting on menus and cost structures, and rebranded products have been launched on LOCAL LIVE. The rebranded 'Chuncheon Cham Dakgalbi' saw a 44% increase in sales after its launch on LOCAL LIVE.
LOCAL LIVE is enhancing its social contribution business model with advice from Daishin Economic Research Institute, a leading ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) evaluation agency in Korea. When employees of client companies who already use Hanwha Hotels & Resorts utilize LOCAL LIVE, it will help them receive favorable evaluations in the social contribution aspect of ESG indicators. As value consumption through LOCAL LIVE becomes more active, client companies will also receive tangible benefits.
Kim Hyung-jo, CEO of Hanwha Hotels & Resorts, stated, "As a regional coexistence platform that directly connects producers and consumers, we plan to further advance LOCAL LIVE so that many companies can practice ESG management through it."
Meanwhile, to commemorate the grand opening of LOCAL LIVE, Hanwha Hotels & Resorts is running a '100 Won Deal' promotion, offering products for 100 won on the first purchase. After signing up as a member and completing the ESG capability evaluation, discount coupons will be automatically issued, and one winner will be drawn to receive a Hanwha Hotels & Resorts gift certificate worth approximately 3 million won. Until the 22nd of this month, the member who spends the most will receive additional bonus points.
