[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] The film Into the Happy Land will open this year's Florence Korean Film Festival.

On the 5th, Lotte Entertainment announced, "'Into the Happy Land' has been selected as the opening film of the 20th Florence Korean Film Festival, which will be held from the 7th to the 15th," adding, "Director Im Sang-soo will attend the opening ceremony held in Florence, Italy."

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the Florence Korean Film Festival is a festival that introduces the fun and artistic value of Korean films throughout Italy.

A festival official stated, "As a road movie that reflects deeply on the profound meaning of existence while not missing humorous moments, it has a different color compared to director Im Sang-soo's previous works," explaining the reason for its selection.

Into the Happy Land depicts the story of a time-pressed escapee 203 (Choi Min-sik) and a penniless patient Nam-sik (Park Hae-il), who accidentally come into possession of a large sum of money and embark on a special journey dreaming of a glamorous ending to their lives. Directed by Im Sang-soo, known for The Taste of Money, The Housemaid, People Who Are Still Alive, and All About My Wife, the film stars actors Choi Min-sik and Park Hae-il.

The film was officially selected for the 73rd Cannes International Film Festival in 2020 and has also been invited to the 26th Busan International Film Festival, the 16th London Korean Film Festival, and the 18th Hong Kong-Asia Film Festival.
