[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] The Daesang Cultural Foundation announced on the 5th that it will provide a total of 950 million KRW in scholarships to 290 students this year.
The recipients include 80 domestic university and graduate students, 10 Korean international students from Southeast Asia, and 200 middle and high school students who are youth heads of households or children of basic livelihood security recipients.
The Daesang Cultural Foundation has primarily supported university students in the humanities and basic sciences through its scholarship programs. Starting this year, the foundation has expanded its support to graduate students in future industries such as population health, climate environment, artificial intelligence, energy, as well as cultural arts and North Korean studies.
Since its establishment in 1971, the Daesang Cultural Foundation has awarded scholarships totaling approximately 21.8 billion KRW to 17,200 students up to last year.
Im Chang-wook, Chairman of the Daesang Cultural Foundation, stated, "The scholarship support program of the Daesang Cultural Foundation is part of an educational welfare project with a 52-year tradition," adding, "We will continue to help more students realize their dreams and hopes through the foundation's scholarship programs."
