[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Beomhan Fuel Cell, a leading hydrogen company in Changwon City, Gyeongnam, is making a full-scale entry into the overseas hydrogen market.


On the 30th, the Changwon City delegation, including Mayor Heo Seong-mu, visited the headquarters of Oli Group in Sydney, Australia, where they met with Luo Qi, founder of Oli Group and CEO of Oli Energy, as well as other officials from Oli Energy.


A city official stated that since the successful hosting of the 2020 Korea-Overseas Chinese Business Week, they have been steadily promoting business matching between domestic and international hydrogen companies through the Korea-Overseas Chinese Business Center by leveraging strong networks with overseas Chinese businesspeople.


On December 15 last year, Beomhan Fuel Cell and Australia’s Oli Energy signed an agreement to enter the Australian hydrogen industry market.


Mayor Heo Seong-mu is visiting Australia to strengthen cooperation in the hydrogen and defense sectors.


On the 30th, at the Oli Group headquarters, he met with the CEO of Oli Energy and hydrogen business executives to explain Changwon’s hydrogen policy initiatives and discussed follow-up plans for hydrogen business between Beomhan Fuel Cell and Oli Energy, as well as various cooperation plans for hydrogen projects of Oli Energy.


Following this meeting, Changwon City and Oli Energy plan to negotiate detailed exchange items in the hydrogen business and sign a concrete participation contract for hydrogen projects in the second half of this year.


The city plans to support the overseas expansion of Changwon’s hydrogen companies by gradually involving major local hydrogen companies, starting with Beomhan Fuel Cell, in Oli Energy’s global hydrogen business.


A city official said, “Luo Qi, CEO of Oli Energy, highly evaluated Changwon City’s advanced hydrogen policy know-how and Beomhan Fuel Cell’s independent hydrogen technology.”


Mayor Heo Seong-mu said, “The visit to Oli Energy recognized Changwon’s hydrogen industry capabilities and confirmed various hydrogen businesses being promoted overseas. We will do our best to strengthen the capabilities of Changwon’s hydrogen companies in cooperation with domestic hydrogen specialized institutions and help many companies enter overseas hydrogen markets to secure future growth engines.”
