원본보기 아이콘[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] CJ Olive Young announced on the 14th that it will open a dedicated store for its private brand (PB), the 'Olive Young Hall,' at Hyundai Department Store Duty Free Dongdaemun Branch on the 15th.
The store, approximately 6 pyeong in size, reflects the characteristics of an area frequented by foreign tourists and influencers by setting up a broadcasting studio in the center of the store. It plans to actively support live broadcasts by influencers such as Wanghong and target tourists and local consumers.
The brands entering the store include a total of seven: Biohealbo, WakeMake, BringGreen, Round Around, Filimilli, Dreamworks, and Colorgram. Starting with this duty-free store entry, Olive Young plans to expand its sales channels in earnest and develop its PB into a global brand.
Olive Young has been striving to penetrate local markets by directly exporting its PB through overseas channels. In 2019, it formed a partnership with Dairy Farm Group, Southeast Asia's largest distribution company, to expand the base of K-beauty, and placed its PB in Singapore and Hong Kong's leading health and beauty (H&B) stores, Guardian and Mannings. In 2018, it began its entry into the U.S. market through the largest online shopping mall, Amazon, and expanded into e-commerce markets in China, Japan, and Southeast Asia.
A CJ Olive Young official said, “The opening of a PB specialty store within the duty-free shop is significant in confirming the independent competitiveness of our private brand and expanding touchpoints to meet tourists from around the world,” adding, “We will actively seek overseas expansion and nurture our private brand as a representative brand of K-beauty.”
