[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City announced that it will launch a relief supplies sharing campaign starting on the 7th to help disaster victims who suffered great damage from the large-scale wildfires that occurred in Uljin, Gyeongbuk, and Samcheok, Gangwon-do.

This relief supplies sharing campaign was initiated to carry on the spirit of the ongoing Suncheon-style Gwunbun (勸分) movement and to gather the warm hearts of Suncheon citizens to support disaster victims struggling due to the large-scale wildfire disaster situation.

The collection of relief supplies will be held for five days until the 11th at the main gymnasium of Suncheon Palma Gymnasium, led by Suncheon City, the Gwangju Jeonnam branch of the Korean Red Cross, and the Suncheon Volunteer Center.

Suncheon citizens who wish to help the wildfire disaster victims in Uljin, Gyeongbuk, and Samcheok, Gangwon-do, can freely donate daily necessities such as rice, ramen, bottled water, and hygiene products at the donation site in the main gymnasium of Palma.

The collected relief supplies will be delivered to the affected city and county areas by Suncheon City and the Gwangju Jeonnam branch of the Korean Red Cross.

Heo Seok, Mayor of Suncheon, said, “I hope this relief supplies sharing campaign will spread nationwide as a donation movement to help disaster victims, starting from Suncheon and expanding to various institutions, companies, and organizations, so that those suffering from wildfire damage can have hope.” He added, “I hope the value of the Suncheon-style Gwunbun (勸分) movement, which overcame crises through the power of citizens, will spread across the country through this relief supplies sharing.”
