[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Jinju Cultural Center in Gyeongnam signed a business agreement on the 24th at the City Hall Citizen Hall with the Sacheon Cultural Center and the Sancheong Cultural Center to promote mutual development and cultural and artistic exchange among the three regions.

About 30 people, including local cultural center directors and executives, attended the signing ceremony. This agreement was made to enhance mutual understanding and friendly cooperation through the inheritance and development of traditional culture and the exchange of cultural and artistic projects.

The main contents include projects to promote the spirit of each region, development and sharing of programs for regional cultural development, and cooperation in areas of mutual interest agreed upon as necessary for the development of each region.

The three cultural centers plan to form a working council to promote mutual regional development and cultural and artistic exchange projects, and discuss cultural exchange projects such as joint interest projects and promotion of regional spirit.

They also plan to promote cultural and artistic exchange projects such as holding seminars by visiting each region, promoting joint interest projects, and inviting each other to cultural and artistic events.

Kim Gil-su, director of the Jinju Cultural Center, said, “The signing of the MOU by the three cultural centers with the same cultural genes is the first in the 60-year history of the Korea Cultural Centers Association,” adding, “Jinju, Sacheon, and Sancheong will play a role in inheriting the noble spirit of their predecessors.”

Jung Dae-hwan, director of the Sacheon Cultural Center, said, “I hope that the three cultural centers in the same cultural sphere will form a friendly cooperative relationship through traditional culture inheritance and development, promotion of regional spirit, and cultural and artistic exchange projects.”

Lee Hyo-geun, director of the Sancheong Cultural Center, said, “A community culture linking the three regions will be formed, actively cooperating with each other, and continuously creating high-quality culture that residents can enjoy together.”

A city official said, “Jinju, Sacheon, and Sancheong have belonged to ‘Cheongju,’ one of the nine provinces of the 9 provinces and 5 small capitals during the Unified Silla period, thus forming the same administrative and living area.”
