[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The pre-trial detention hearing (warrant review) for an executive at HDC Hyundai Development Company headquarters, who is accused of improperly interfering in the selection of subcontractors related to the Gwangju Hakdong disaster, will be held this week.

The Gwangju District Court will review the necessity of detention for Executive Director A of Hyundai Development Company, who has been issued an arrest warrant on charges of bid-rigging, on the morning of the 25th.

Mr. A is accused of being involved in the selection of the general building demolition contractor for the redevelopment project of Hakdong 4 District in Dong-gu. It has been investigated that during the 'designated competitive bidding' process, he disclosed specific bid amounts to Hansol Enterprise, which was ultimately selected as the demolition contractor.

The police plan to consider additional detention measures for the association and maintenance company officials involved in the bid misconduct once the issuance of the arrest warrant for Mr. A is decided, and to expand the investigation to the approval line within Hyundai Development Company headquarters.

The accident occurred on June 9 last year when a five-story building being demolished in Hakdong collapsed toward the road, resulting in 17 people being killed or injured.
