[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] An incident occurred where a buyer, who met through the secondhand trading platform 'Danggeun Market', took the item and then hit the seller with a car and fled. The police caught the suspect after tracking down their identity.

According to a report by 'JTBC' on the 22nd, the incident happened on the 2nd in an alley in front of a university in Daehyeon-dong, Daegu, while two people were conducting a secondhand transaction. The buyer, Mr. A, received the item from the seller, Mr. B, but fled without paying.

The closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage released on the broadcast shows a white vehicle quickly passing through a narrow alley in a residential area, with Mr. B chasing after it.

During the escape, Mr. B was hit by the car while chasing it and suffered injuries requiring three weeks of medical treatment.

According to the Daegu Bukbu Police Station, Mr. B had recently posted a listing on 'Danggeun Market' to sell a luxury watch worth 22.5 million won. Subsequently, Mr. A showed interest in Mr. B's post and approached him, and the two agreed to meet in an alley in front of the university for the transaction.

However, Mr. A reportedly stalled by saying, "The transfer limit has been exceeded, and I am arranging a way to send the money. Could you wait a little longer?"

About two hours later, before sending the money, he wanted to verify the authenticity one last time, received the watch from Mr. B, and suddenly started the car.

The police reviewed the CCTV footage at the scene and arrested Mr. A on the 23rd. They plan to summon Mr. A for a detailed investigation into the circumstances of the incident.

Meanwhile, incidents of receiving items and fleeing during transactions through secondhand trading applications like Danggeun Market have been occurring frequently recently.

In October last year, a man in his 20s near Hongik University in Mapo-gu, Seoul, wore a luxury watch on his wrist before purchasing it and then fled. The watch was a high-priced item sold for about 9 million won on the market.

The man, who was indicted and detained on charges including theft, fraud, and unlicensed driving, was sentenced to two years in prison and fined 300,000 won.
