Yoo Seung-min, president of the Korea Table Tennis Association, will serve two more years as the vice-chairman of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Athletes' Commission. He was re-elected alongside Chairwoman Emma Terho in the IOC Athletes' Commission vote held on the 18th in Beijing, China. The chairperson and vice-chairperson of the Athletes' Commission are elected at every Summer and Winter Olympics. Their term lasts until the next Olympics. Chairwoman Terho and Vice-chairman Yoo were elected as chairperson and vice-chairperson, respectively, at the Tokyo Summer Olympics last year, which was postponed by one year due to COVID-19. This time, both ran unopposed and extended their terms. Chairwoman Terho is a former Finnish female ice hockey player who won two bronze medals at the Olympics. Vice-chairman Yoo, who won the gold medal in men's singles table tennis at the 2004 Athens Olympics, was elected as an athlete representative at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympics. Meanwhile, newly established second vice-chairperson was elected as Sarah Walker, a former New Zealand female BMX cyclist and athlete representative.
