Continuous Innovation Efforts and Achievements in the 7th Elected Term, Innovation Cases Praised for Integrity Improvement

Haenam-gun, the Only Excellent Institution Selected by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety for 3 Consecutive Years in the Province

[Haenam＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Jeonnam Haenam-gun announced on the 12th that it was selected as an excellent institution in the 2021 Local Government Innovation Evaluation.

Since 2019, the county has been recognized for its top-level innovative administrative achievements by being the only local government in Jeonnam Province to be selected as an excellent institution for three consecutive years from 2019 to 2021.

The Local Government Innovation Evaluation, hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, was conducted by an evaluation panel consisting of experts (22 members) and general citizens (204 members), assessing 243 local governments nationwide (17 metropolitan and 226 basic local governments) based on five categories and 14 detailed indicators: ▲institutional autonomous innovation ▲participation and cooperation ▲inclusive administration ▲trusted government ▲innovation diffusion and public perception.

Haenam received favorable evaluations for innovative administrative cases such as the county head’s scholarship fund donation from salary, the establishment and expanded use of the county residents-only smartphone app ‘Sotongnet,’ and achieving the second grade in integrity for four consecutive years, the only one in Jeonnam.

Additionally, distinctive policies such as the project to boost residents’ pride, integrated dementia safety services, completion of resident autonomy committee installation in all towns and townships, our neighborhood welfare task force, youth safe return taxis, and the expansion of Haenam Love Taxi received positive responses from residents.

Myung Hyun-gwan, the head of Haenam-gun, emphasized, “The continuous efforts of all public officials for innovation to restore the pride of residents during the 7th elected term and establish a trusted administration have resulted in the honor of winning for three consecutive years. We will continue to strive to create innovative outcomes that residents can feel.”
