T'way Air Progressing Smoothly with Introduction of Large Aircraft for Medium- to Long-Haul Flights... "Test Flight Conducted"

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] T'way Air announced on the 10th that the finalization work for the introduction of the medium-to-large aircraft 'A330-300' is progressing smoothly.

T'way Air plans to introduce a total of three A330-300 aircraft within the first half of the year, starting with the first unit. The first aircraft, scheduled to be introduced domestically on the 24th, is undergoing finalization work at an aircraft maintenance (MRO) company located in Xiamen, China, and is currently conducting test flights on site.

The exterior painting of the aircraft has been completed. Inside, all 347 seats, including business class and economy class, have been installed. T'way Air will be the first domestic low-cost carrier (LCC) to introduce business class, offering convenience and comfort with a premium flatbed featuring a spacious 59-inch pitch. The economy class will also be operated comfortably with a 32-inch pitch, comparable to major airlines.

After the completion of work, the first aircraft will undergo test flights and safety evaluations after its domestic introduction, and from the end of March, it will welcome passengers on the Gimpo-Jeju route. Subsequently, T'way Air plans to deploy the A330-300 model for medium- to long-haul routes such as Singapore and Sydney, Australia, as well as for cargo transportation, in line with the resumption of international flights. The second aircraft, scheduled for introduction in March, is also undergoing maintenance, seat replacement, and painting work.

In preparation for the full-scale operation of medium-to-large aircraft, T'way Air has continuously conducted training and education for flight crew, cabin crew, and aircraft maintenance personnel at the Airbus Training Center and its own training center located at Gimpo Airport to ensure safe passenger transportation.

At the T'way Air Aviation Training Center, an emergency evacuation and door training facility for the A330-300 aircraft was additionally installed at the end of last year. Recently, a task force (TF) team was also formed within the cabin division to stabilize initial operations following the introduction of the A330-300, continuing efforts to ensure the highest level of in-flight safety.

A T'way Air official stated, “We are thoroughly preparing company-wide to welcome passengers safely and comfortably,” adding, “Through medium-to-large aircraft, we will provide passengers with longer and more comfortable flights and make 2022 a year of new changes.”
