[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Council of Chairpersons of Provincial and Metropolitan Councils of the Republic of Korea (Chairman Kim Inho, Chairperson of Seoul Metropolitan Council) delivered 10 million KRW in disaster relief funds for the victims of the newly constructed apartment collapse accident in Hwajeong-dong, Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 8th through the legal relief organization, the National Disaster Relief Association.
On this day, Kim Yongjip, Chairperson of Gwangju Metropolitan Council, representing the Council of Chairpersons of Provincial and Metropolitan Councils of the Republic of Korea, visited the Regional Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters to offer condolences and personally met with Gwangju Mayor Lee Yongseop to deliver the support funds.
Chairperson Kim stated, “I express my deepest condolences to those who lost their lives in this accident,” and added, “I hope that the families of the collapse accident victims, who are in despair, as well as nearby merchants and affected residents, will find relief from their suffering as soon as possible.”
He also said, “I am grateful to the Council of Chairpersons of Provincial and Metropolitan Councils for their concern and assistance regarding Gwangju’s pain,” and “I will convey the warm hearts of the provincial and metropolitan council chairpersons not only to the victims’ families and rescue workers but also to the citizens.”
