원본보기 아이콘[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Korea University of Energy Science and Technology announced on the 24th that it will complete construction of the core facilities for students, including classrooms and laboratories, by next month in preparation for its opening in March.
The facility housing the classrooms currently shows a construction progress rate of 95%.
The core facilities under construction include a lecture building and common areas spanning a total floor area of 5,224㎡ from basement level 1 to the 4th floor above ground. A futsal field, tennis courts, and basketball courts will also be built.
The classrooms will be equipped with a learning environment suitable for project-based learning (PBL) with small group seating arrangements, video recording and filming systems, and an online learning platform.
The multipurpose hall will serve as an open space for lectures, exhibitions, and events, while the study cafe will be used as a space for relaxation, discussion, and communication between students and professors.
A self-studio for students operating one-person media is also provided. Around the building, futsal, tennis, and basketball courts have been established.
The dormitories for freshmen will use the remodeled Booyoung Resort, which closed this year, and from 2023, newly constructed buildings will be utilized.
Korea University of Energy Science and Technology will operate as a Residential College (RC), supporting students to engage in academics, social, and cultural activities within the dormitories.
Yoon Euijun, President of Korea University of Energy Science and Technology, said, "The core facilities for the opening represent the first step of Korea University of Energy Science and Technology in nurturing key talents in future energy and climate change technologies," adding, "We will spare no effort to support students in realizing their dreams as future energy leaders."
