원본보기 아이콘[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City in Gyeongnam announced on the 24th that it held an 'Interim Report Meeting on the Establishment of the Basic Plan for Sustainable Development.'
About 15 people, including members of the Jinju Sustainable Development Council and related officials, attended the report meeting held at City Hall.
Since July last year, Jinju City has been conducting a project to set visions and goals reflecting Jinju's characteristics and conditions based on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals presented by the UN, the government, and Gyeongsangnam-do.
The Jinju Sustainable Development Council, citizen representatives, and experts participated in several deliberative discussions. Through the opinion collection process, detailed goals were derived. Plans will also be made for evaluation indicators, assessment of the implementation status of sustainable development and measures to ensure effectiveness, and ways to secure the sustainability of municipal plans.
An official from the city explained, "This meeting was held to report on the progress so far and future plans. We plan to finalize the research project after collecting opinions from related departments in Jinju and holding briefings for stakeholders."
The Sustainable Development Goals are a joint agreement adopted at the UN General Assembly in September 2015, containing 17 goals to be implemented at international, national, and local levels for global sustainable development.
They present common goals for humanity, such as eradicating poverty and hunger, economic growth, reducing inequality, and responding to climate change, which all countries worldwide must achieve by 2030.
