원본보기 아이콘[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] It has been confirmed that the police investigating the People's General Rally held on the 15th of this month at Yeouido Park in Seoul, where about 15,000 people (estimated by the organizers) gathered, have identified key participants and requested their attendance.
Nam Gu-jun, head of the National Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency, stated at a press briefing on the 24th, "The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's investigation headquarters have identified 25 organizers and key participants of the rally and requested all of them to appear." However, it is known that no attendance investigation has been conducted yet.
Additionally, the police have summoned and investigated 138 out of 147 suspects related to last October's general strike rally, November's workers' rally, and the Public Transport Union's general rally. The police continue to investigate the series of large-scale rallies on charges including violations of the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act and the Assembly and Demonstration Act.
Regarding the 'SIM swapping' (a new hacking method that duplicates mobile phone SIM cards) case revealed through KT's request for investigation, Nam explained, "We are cooperating with KT to analyze connection records and virtual asset transaction details."
Regarding the apartment wall pad hacking incident reported last November, the Cyber Terror Investigation Unit of the National Police Agency is conducting a multifaceted investigation including IP tracking, digital forensics, and international cooperation. Nam said, "To prevent secondary damage, we are consulting with the Ministry of Science and ICT and have blocked domestic access to the hacking video leak sites through the Korea Communications Standards Commission."
