[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seocho-gu is the first in the nation to officially operate the public app ‘Seocho Geonchuk Alimi’ from this month, which provides real-time information on existing buildings and construction sites to prevent construction site safety accidents through smart technology.
The ‘Seocho Geonchuk Alimi’ app is a real-time communication system for preventing safety accidents between the district and construction sites.
The main function is that when a safety accident occurs in the area, construction site personnel report it via the app, and the district office staff immediately take necessary actions such as dispatching to the site.
Additionally, it provides safety inspection schedules and construction site permit statuses, enabling safety measures through weather forecasts such as heavy rain and heavy snow.
For example, if around 11 a.m. on Saturday at construction site A in ○○dong, there is a safety concern such as a temporary fence bending due to strong winds, the construction site personnel promptly report it to 119 and through the Seocho Geonchuk Alimi app. Then, the district office staff check the reported construction site information via the app, and a specialist from the Seocho Regional Building Safety Center is dispatched to the site to carry out emergency safety measures.
The app is intended not only for construction site personnel in the area but also for residents who want to know basic information such as permit statuses of nearby construction sites and owners of buildings subject to regular inspections.
The reason the district operates the Geonchuk Alimi app is due to the lack of a systematic system for real-time construction site information such as construction overview and progress status.
Also, currently, the district’s permit officers are responsible for an average of about 90 construction sites each, making it difficult to grasp the status of construction sites. Therefore, the district developed and started operating the app from December last year.
Moreover, through ‘Seocho Geonchuk Alimi,’ the district has established an efficient management system for existing buildings. The app provides not only the timing for regular and detailed inspections of existing buildings but also allows users to check detailed inspection items. It also provides the latest legal amendment information related to building management.
The district expects that the ‘Seocho Geonchuk Alimi’ app will enable smarter prevention of construction site safety accidents by strengthening initial response in case of accidents. Additionally, for general residents, the app provides more transparent information on construction site statuses and allows reporting of inconveniences related to construction sites, which is expected to increase resident satisfaction.
In the future, the district plans to enable real-time monitoring of CCTV within construction sites through the app, allowing the district to directly monitor construction sites with high accident risks and enable more proactive accident prevention.
Acting Mayor Cheon Jeong-wook said, “We will continue to strive to create a safe city Seocho where residents are happy by establishing a smart construction site safety system.”
Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) will deliver ‘Mom’s Lunchbox’ filled with warm love to ensure that children do not go hungry during the Lunar New Year holiday.
Yangcheon-gu’s ‘Mom’s Lunchbox,’ which delivers delicious lunchboxes (kit boxes) during the holiday period to prevent meal gaps due to absence of guardians and closure of Dream Tree Card affiliated stores, has been a project that Mayor Kim has consistently managed every holiday since Lunar New Year 2015. So far, about 700 children have received Mom’s Lunchbox.
Children from single-parent families, child-headed households, and dual-income families often rely on meals at local children’s centers or use the Dream Tree Card at affiliated general restaurants for meals. However, during the holiday period, many Dream Tree Card affiliated stores are closed, and children staying alone for long hours find it difficult to have a proper meal.
This Lunar New Year, due to COVID-19, three days’ worth of kit boxes consisting of retort pouch foods that children can easily prepare themselves (cup rice, kimchi stew, smoked whole chicken, galbitang, barbecue pork ribs, snacks, fruits, etc.) have been prepared.
Recipients were selected through the local community centers. Fifty-two children at risk of meal deprivation, including those targeted by the meal project and those wishing to receive Mom’s Lunchbox delivery, will have the kit boxes delivered according to the schedule of each district from January 27 to 28. After delivery, a safety text message will be sent to guardians to ensure immediate receipt, and a ‘kit box delivery call service’ will also be operated.
Yangcheon Sarang Welfare Foundation (CEO Kim Deok-young), which has been sponsoring part of the meal costs every year, added warmth to this holiday’s Mom’s Lunchbox as well.
Yangcheon-gu Mayor Kim Soo-young said, “With a sense of mission that no child should go hungry during the long holiday, we have prepared warm Mom’s Lunchboxes again this Lunar New Year. We will carefully monitor not only the delivery but also conduct satisfaction surveys to actively reflect children’s opinions and provide better meals.”
