[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Cha Jong-sun] Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it has published a catalog titled "Old Documents of Gokseong Yeonundang," which organizes the Gokseong Yeonundang Ancient Documents (谷城 漣雲堂 古文書), Jeollanam-do Tangible Cultural Property No. 321.
Yeonundang refers to the main house of the Seonsan Ryu clan who settled in Yeonban Village, Seokgok-myeon, Gokseong-gun.
The Yeonundang ancient documents are documents preserved by the family since the Joseon Dynasty.
They include a total of 177 documents such as old documents, family registers, certificates, diaries, and abstracts of the diary of Miam Yoo Hee-chun.
Recognized as valuable cultural heritage for understanding the late Joseon rural society, institutional history, and daily life, these documents were designated as Jeollanam-do Tangible Cultural Property No. 321 on August 6, 2015.
The newly published "Old Documents of Gokseong Yeonundang" compiles 177 documents held at Yeonundang in Seokgok-myeon into a catalog form, including document descriptions, photos, translations, and transcriptions.
Additionally, it provides detailed explanations of the significance of each ancient document and includes related terminology, making it easy for anyone to explore the Yeonundang ancient documents.
A Gokseong-gun official stated, "We will continue to actively strive to preserve and pass on the Yeonundang ancient documents, which are our county's recorded heritage. Furthermore, we will maintain interest in other ancient documents and old books scattered throughout our county and continue efforts for their preservation."
