The 'Damidam Art District Development Project' with Historical Significance Receives High Praise as a Bridge Between Tourist Attractions and the Old Downtown

The landscape administration evaluation is promoted by Jeollanam-do to enhance landscape administrative capabilities and systematically manage beautiful landscapes. Exemplary cities and counties are selected through document screening and on-site evaluation by external experts.
Damyang-gun has consistently implemented landscape policies to create a refined landscape by protecting excellent nature, establishing landscape plans and public design promotion plans for building management systems, and applying them to various projects.
In particular, the 'Damidam Art District Development Project,' which was the subject of the on-site evaluation, has been developed into a historic building by incorporating the form of modern buildings in Damyang into the architecture, emerging as a differentiated new complex cultural attraction in Damyang-gun where ecology and culture and arts harmonize.
Also, various projects centered on the Damidam development project have played a bridging role connecting tourist sites such as Juknokwon and Gwanbangjerim with the old downtown area, receiving favorable reviews for bringing significant changes not only to the landscape but also to the economic revitalization of the old downtown.
The county plans to continue setting core landscape strategies as landscape preservation and clean nature gain attention, reestablish landscape plans for more systematic management, and promote various policies to create a sustainable ecological city Damyang, including street environment improvement projects and signboard maintenance projects for an eco-friendly urban image.
