[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Lee Sujeong, professor of criminal psychology at Kyonggi University and co-chair of the People Power Party's joint election countermeasures committee, pointed out on the 21st that "parents' responsibility is infinite" in response to Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, who recently apologized for allegations of illegal gambling involving his eldest son.

In an interview with KBS Radio's 'Choi Kyung-young's Strong Current Affairs' on the same day, Commissioner Lee said, "I also once discovered that my son accessed obscene websites when he was young. The responsibility for educating one's child does not end when they become an adult."

She continued, "I still meet my son, who is over thirty, every weekend and really nag him a lot," emphasizing, "Therefore, if you ask whether the faults of the child I raised and the mistakes of a spouse before marriage can be seen on the same level, I take the position that they cannot be viewed equally."

Regarding the controversy over false credentials of Kim Gun-hee, spouse of People Power Party presidential candidate Yoon Seok-youl, she responded, "The tentative conclusion seems to be that 'the false parts are not as many as expected, but there are quite a few exaggerations.'

Commissioner Lee pointed out, "(Kim) is confirmed to have completed a two-year master's program called EMBA at Seoul National University's Graduate School of Business," adding, "It is not true that she completely lied about graduating from Seoul National University's Business Administration Department."

She went on to explain, "This could be the university's fault. Ultimately, Seoul National University has an MBA program, but they created another program called EMBA, which operates weekend courses targeting company executives and now issues a two-year master's degree," adding, "Therefore, from the perspective of someone who received that master's degree, they have no choice but to use the title 'master's.'

She added, "Nevertheless, from my standpoint as someone in academia, special educational programs should be explained in parentheses, so why wasn't that done? It's not a general master's degree, right? It's a master's from a specialized graduate school. These are questions that can certainly be raised."

Commissioner Lee further stated, "From that perspective, I think it is difficult to consider this as falsehood, but it can definitely be seen as exaggeration."

Regarding the host's criticism that Kim's allegations contradict Yoon's campaign slogans of 'fairness' and 'common sense,' she said, "Such criticism should be accepted," but also argued, "The university that operated for commercial purposes also bears some responsibility."
