[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 21st, Seoul City announced that it has become the first local government to obtain the Construction Safety and Health Management System (KOSHA-MS) certification from the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency. The Construction Safety and Health Management System is the latest safety and health management framework developed by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, reflecting the requirements of the Industrial Safety and Health Act and the recommendations of the International Labour Organization (ILO).

Seoul City declared the safety and health management policy as "Promoting construction projects with safety and health as the top priority!" and established manuals, 17 types of procedures, and 5 types of guidelines to achieve this goal, managing them systematically through organizational efforts. In particular, it built an autonomous safety and health management system involving on-site workers directly, enabling the inspection and resolution of hazardous and risky factors at each construction site to ensure stable and continuous safety management.

In preparation for the Serious Accident Punishment Act to be enforced from next year, Seoul City plans to strengthen risk assessments to eliminate hazardous and risky factors at workplaces. Additionally, it will actively promote construction industry accident prevention activities to ensure that related safety standards are properly implemented on site.

Lee Jeong-hwa, Head of Seoul City's Urban Infrastructure Headquarters, stated, "Seoul City prioritizes the safety and health of construction workers and will continuously improve the working environment to ensure safety." She added, "Through the participation of on-site workers, we will strive to implement stable and continuous safety management, not only ensuring the safety of construction workers but also dedicating ourselves to building safe and convenient urban infrastructure for citizens."
