[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A COVID-19 cluster infection has occurred in the police riot squad under the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.

According to the police on the 6th, 11 confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported in the 81st Riot Squad under the 8th Riot Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.

The police conducted comprehensive COVID-19 testing on the staff belonging to the 81st Riot Squad. Including one confirmed case from the previous day, a total of 12 cases have been confirmed.

After the confirmed cases emerged, the police disinfected the related facilities, quarantined close contacts, and the quarantine authorities are conducting epidemiological investigations. Additionally, they are also checking for infection with the new variant virus, Omicron.
