[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] On the holiday of the 20th, the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in the Gwangju area far exceeded the number of confirmed cases for the entire previous day within half a day.
According to Gwangju Metropolitan City, as of 2 p.m. that day, 55 people were confirmed positive for COVID-19.
Among them, 23 cases were confirmed related only to daycare centers, elementary, and middle schools. Five people in quarantine related to a middle school in Gwangsan-gu tested positive, and three people were confirmed positive at two elementary schools in Gwangsan-gu.
Additionally, nine cases were reported related to a daycare center in Buk-gu, and five cases related to a kindergarten in Seo-gu.
Sixteen cases also occurred at two bathhouses in Buk-gu, three cases were related to other cities and provinces, four cases were linked to existing confirmed patients, and eight symptomatic tested cases are currently under investigation for infection routes.
One confirmed case each was reported during quarantine related to a large business site in Gwangsan-gu and a nursing hospital in Seo-gu.
Meanwhile, the 30th death in the Gwangju area occurred the previous day. The deceased was an 85-year-old confirmed patient diagnosed on the 15th, who died around 5 p.m. four days after confirmation.
According to COVID-19 funeral guidelines, cremation will be conducted first, followed by the funeral.
