Cheongho Nice's coffee machine ice water purifier has recently gained popularity among the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z). After the release of the new product in this series, the 'Cheongho EspreCafe,' this year, the purchase ratio among people in their 20s and 30s soared by nearly 10 percentage points. It is analyzed that the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic-driven 'home cafe' craze and the consumption trends of the younger generation aiming for reasonable spending influenced this.


According to Cheongho Nice on the 22nd, after the release of the 'Cheongho EspreCafe' in February this year, the purchase ratio of coffee ice water purifiers by people in their 20s and 30s was recorded at 41%. Those in their 40s and 50s accounted for 47%, and those aged 60 and above made up 12%. Considering that the main consumer group for water purifier products is people in their 40s and 50s, the company explained that this is a remarkable figure. In fact, before the release of the Cheongho EspreCafe, the purchase ratio by age group for water purifiers showed that people in their 20s and 30s accounted for only 32%, while those in their 40s and 50s were the largest group at 55%, and those aged 60 and above were 13%. With the release of the EspreCafe this year, the proportion of people in their 20s and 30s seeking coffee machine ice water purifiers increased by about 10 percentage points.


Cheongho Nice first launched the coffee machine ice water purifier in 2014. The coffee machine ice water purifier, initially released under the product name 'HuiCafe' that year, has seen a total of seven products launched, including the bestseller 'HuiCafe-IV Edge' and this year's EspreCafe. The cumulative sales volume is approaching 130,000 units.


In particular, the EspreCafe, released as a new product in this series this year, attracted attention for incorporating all the functions of a coffee machine and ice water purifier while being compact in size. With a width of 29 cm, it provides purified water, cold water, hot water, lukewarm water, and ice, as well as espresso capability. As a 'countertop' model that sits on the sink, its capacities of 2.4 liters for purified water, 1.6 liters for cold water, 0.57 liters for hot water, and 0.52 kg for ice make it suitable not only for homes but also for small offices.


Moreover, during the development of this product, Cheongho Nice focused on the ice water purifier function that provides clean ice and water while also putting effort into upgrading the coffee taste. By applying a capsule module different from the existing HuiCafe series and using appropriate extraction pressure, they reduced bitterness and achieved a balanced and smooth coffee flavor, according to Cheongho Nice. Although it simultaneously offers coffee machine and ice water purifier functions, the control buttons are separated by function, making it easy and convenient for anyone to use.


Additionally, this product has won the Good Design Award and the IDEA Design Award, and it is also considered suitable for decorating 'home cafes,' which have become popular recently due to COVID-19. A Cheongho Nice representative said, "While focusing on the core functions of the ice water purifier, it allows users to easily make and enjoy high-quality coffee with deeper taste and aroma beyond simple coffee extraction functions with just a touch, leading to a rapid increase in the purchase ratio among young consumers."
