[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Cha Jong-sun] The Family Center of Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Yoo Geun-gi) has received enthusiastic responses for presenting a multicultural traditional cooking experience session together with marriage immigrants.

The center organized a multicultural cooking class to enhance multicultural sensitivity and cultural acceptance, aiming to foster a social integration atmosphere.

Through this, five local residents who applied in advance made traditional dishes from four countries every Friday from October 15 to November 5 in the center's kitchen, following the methods taught by marriage immigrants.

The participants learned recipes in the local styles of each country by making Thailand's pineapple fried rice, Japan's gyudon, the Philippines' pancit canton and mahablanca, and Vietnam's banh xeo.

Additionally, they spent time getting closer by sharing various stories with the marriage immigrants. Participant A said, "I was glad to learn foreign dishes I usually liked directly from marriage immigrants. It was a truly meaningful time to learn about each country's food culture while making food together and becoming friends."

A representative of the Gokseong-gun Family Center said, "This cooking class was prepared from the perspective of improving multicultural awareness to create a community that harmonizes together by understanding each other through food. We will continuously promote experiential awareness improvement activities that are familiar and easily accessible to activate exchanges between each other."
