원본보기 아이콘[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Kang Yoon-seong (56), who was charged with damaging an electronic tracking device (electronic anklet) and murdering two women, has reportedly changed his stance and applied for a citizen jury trial.
According to the Seoul Eastern District Court on the 8th, Kang, who was indicted on seven charges including murder and fraud, submitted a statement of intent for a citizen jury trial on the 2nd of this month.
Previously, at the first hearing on the 14th of last month, Kang had stated that he did not want a citizen jury trial. It is known that Kang applied for the citizen jury trial himself, claiming that some of the contents described in the indictment were different from the facts.
At the first hearing, Kang did not admit to some of the facts among the charges. The prosecution viewed that Kang stabbed victim A multiple times with a weapon at his home on August 26, causing her death. However, Kang claimed that he did not kill the woman with a weapon, stating, "I did not know if she was really dead or just pretending to be unconscious, so I checked by pricking her with the tip of the knife like an injection."
It is understood that Kang submitted petitions twice on the 2nd and 5th, and on the 5th, he also submitted reference materials such as donation receipts to the court.
